The Junior Community Rugby Festivals provides a one day festival across six regions throughout New Zealand. On Sunday 14th August we held our 5th Junior Community Rugby Festival at Swarbrick Park, Frankton, Waikato. They had a massive 111 teams participating from the ages 6-11 years.
They then had a GIRLS Only Festival on Sunday 25th August, this was the second year they had held this festival and they had a massive 43 Girls Team participating from ages 6-13 years. This was also held at Swarbrick Park in Hamilton.
Players have the opportunity to be involved in the festival that provides multiple games, for players to play against others inside and outside their regions. Having an emphasis on the values of Inclusivity, Respect and Community with little emphasis on the results, but how players conduct themselves on the field, enjoyment of play and being part of a community.
Junior Community Rugby Festivals are most proud of their communities coming together. It's not only about the players, it's about the connections that are made, that everyone comes together through a sporting event.
Their Mission is for all Junior Rugby players in the New Zealand rugby community, to have the opportunity to participate in a one day rugby festival that builds on the rugby foundations of Friendship, Connections, Enjoyment, Engaging in a fun carnival atmosphere.
Junior Community Rugby Festivals are very grateful to receive the My Mortgage Community Fund as this allowed them to provide support to run these festivals to make it even more enjoyable. Such as first aid on site.
